I started my system about three and a half weeks ago. I have two half drum growing beds and a wooden pond i built about 120 gallons. I am starting to notice some algae growth is this ok or should i do something about it . also my tomato and pepper plants are only about 10-12 inches tall and are starting to flower should i let them go or pick them to let them grow more. I have noticed the tomato stalks have gotten a lot thicker since i planted them. I have more pics in the member systems post. any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. |

Every new system goes through a 'pea soup' stage, which is quite normal. Keep sunlight off your FT and increase aeration if possible and it will diminish in time. |

Did you cycle through winter DrLuke? I probably should have said, "most systems go through a 'pea soup' stage when cycling. |

Late summer, but I had my tank covered straight away. |

Yea my understanding is that most algae requires light to grow. The pea soup stage is usually due to an unstable system and sunlight hitting the nutrient rich water. I think I only got minimal algae growth in the begining as I had my FT covered too. |
