This is a reminder to slow down, you're not indestructable..

An old friend was killed in a horror smash a couple of nights ago, this was part of the car.. Damn craziness, 2 others in the car were also killed after they hit a tree and the car split in half. The V8 engine was 30-40m away from the car, they estimate the car was doing about 140km/h.

Slow down and take care on the roads...

RIP Chook, you crazy bugger..

I'm calling that a grossly understated estimate.

Sorry to hear you lost a friend EB

I drive past the location of that crash almost every day. It looks like the tree won this time - they usually do. Must be pretty sad for the families involved, It could have been even worse though if there was another car involved.

I wish people would stop putting there own and other peoples life at risk like this.

The other sad one that happened recently would be the baby that died in somebodys home because of the driver that crashed into the house. If you can't be safe from dangerous drivers in your own home where can you be.

Moral of the story - If you want to go fast do it on a race track, not on public roads.

I lost a mate in highschool in a similar way. rolled it into a tree at high speed, crushed the roof down to the floorpan, straight through the drivers seat.

i'm all for going fast on a race track, but thats where it needs to be left.

Joel, sorry you lost a mate. For those who lost family and/or friend, my sympathies. I lost a good friend out Kalamunda way many years back - we were all waiting for her to arrive at her place to continue the party.

BUT!!! The solution is to teach people to DRIVE! NOT how to get a licence. So many people die or kill others because they never learned to make good driving an instinctive pattern. The SHTF and they panic or do exactly the wrong thing because all they learned how to do was pass a test.

I'd been driving 6 years before I was old enough to get a licence - the cop failed me first time round because I didn't do a handbrake start at a pedestrian crossing that had like a 1 in 100 grade and because I argued with him about my speed - I pointed out not only did I NOT go above 35, I didn't go above 2200 revs in 4th.

Put everyone who wants to hold a licence through a driver training course and you will find not only does the road toll drop, people will have less road rage.

*should have been on the venting thread... Sorry Joel(
