i watched an episode of i fish last friday night on the tv. the presenter was on a charter boat off the west coast of NZ. He hooked a tuna approx 250kg and eventually landed it. Then he proceeded to tell the audience he was going to cut off the head and remove a bone from the head for research purposes. Quite frankly i was fu%%inn disgusted. There is only 5% of that fish species left in the southern oceans and they are not going to recover. I dont see it as any different to japaneses whalers killing for reseach purposes. It seems that we dontt have any say in management of the oceans.

Saw that and thought exactly the same thing. He tried to pass off his catch as scientific research to make everyone feel good about killing a endangered fish

What is this research that requires the animals dead prove year after year? Why can't they use fish caught by fishermen quoter, that is buy them, to do what ever research they what? Just tell them how to catch and store it. Them the fisherman will be paid and happy, the researcher will have fish and happy and the rest goes to the consumer, after all how many fish do they need?
