Post subject:  Intro

Hello, my name is Steve and I figured I should start off with a little intro (out of courtesy). before I start to ask all kinds of redundant stupid questions

My wife and I live in upstate New York about an hour NW of NYC, we live on an 8 acre farmette and currently have 5 horses and 2 dogs. I own a custom millwork shop which sometimes causes me a lot of stress.
I have joked around about selling it and starting a fish farm, because what's more stress free than getting paid to watch fish grow LOL. I found this site indirectly by researching fishfarming, I also ordered a 9x12 green house this year and plan to start a veg garden again. It was a perfect combination!

I have been surfing here and can't believe the amount of info available on this site, I wonder why there isn't more available on the net because this seems like it could be so popular considering it's benefits.

I ordered Joel's book last week and I'm Anxious for it to arrive, like a 5 yr old kid waiting for Santa! Even though I only plan to do this as a hobby, I will get much joy in telling everyone that I'm a fishfarmer

I've got plenty of (mainly soft maple) shavings that get recycled for use in the horse stalls, I've never had anyone ask me for shavings for smoking meat, I don't use those species on a regular basis. I do have people picking through my garbage frequently.
