I'm just learning the ropes on the forum but welcome.

I think the appropriate reply in a situation like this is, pictures?

What was some one saying about new people by definition having a working system?

Does that mean I'm just a blowin at this stage?

Hi Dean :)

Pictures would be very nice please.

The solids that you get from leftover food and the fish poo contain lots of the nutrients that flowering plants require to produce fruits. If you are running a biofilter some of those nutrients will be lost to the plants.

More grow beds will be a very good thing.

Have fun with it :)

G'day Deanob, good to hear your getting things set up.... Yep, more grow beds are always good... Yeah pictures are cool if you can get them... Or to try and better explain what your thinking of doing, google sketchup is fantastic.... I'ts free to download, very easy to use, and a great tool for planning and designing.. http://sketchup.google.com/

deanob,

If you're using gravel beds then ditch the biofilter IMHO.

Jaymie, as long as the solids remained in the biofilter they would still become bio-available to the plants.

My suggestion of ditching it is simply becasue it is not needed!

If you were running a NFT in PVC pipes then i'd say keep the bio-filter for sure.

Make any sense?

Steve
