My tilapia breed like crazy ..

I curently use fry savers .. (mesh bags or boxes suspended in the mother tank) for isolation.

I have been thinking of a "nursey tower"

I am thinking stackable cube plastic storage boxes, each fitted with a central tube that delivers water to the crate below. (creates a vortex and aeration at every stage. )

Some people would call the bottom crate a "sump".

A small pump in the bottom crate feeds to the top crate and a heater and filter are located in the bottom crate - water cascades down from box to box. This set up allows a cascade aeration system. Airation at every level.

Each crate has handle holes at the top for carrying .. once stacked these holes are the feeding holes.

The crates are about $ 5 or $ 6 Aus Dollars each from k-mart or Target ... stackable and are about 35 cm x 35 cm x 35 cm and a little bit of shade cloth over each outlet down-tube could stop fry from migrating from tank to tank.

What do ya think?

I reckon that would work J7.. I know the problem your having, personally I have more fry than I know what to do with...

I guess you would only need one heater in the bottom crate of the tower system wouldn't you.... :)

Joel..

That is exactly what I am thinking .... one heater in the bottom and insulate all the crates with polystyrene...

If there is too much temperature drop .. it would be easy to lay in another heater in one of the crates higher up the tower.

Maybe we can catch up soon ..
