| Post subject: | A Rude Awaking.. The Great Escape |
Well I got woken up differently this morning.. Yep you heard it Correctly.. The Great escape.. ![]() The Setting.. In the Picture you can see the gap[Corridor] between the cage and the fence, down that area at the very back of it the cage and the fence make a Gap only 150mm wide.. - Originally[up to today] I thought that was safe as there is Loose packed stone to a depth of 12" there.. Was I WRONG I was having a great sleep and it was in the early hours of the morning.. around 6:30 when the sound of tiny feet was heard.. and soon after the sound of bouncing feet.. On investigation of the sound it was found that The Patrol dog Bojangles and the escapee Theodore Edward Bear were playing chase in the bedroom.. That is Loki.. and the other in the Picture are his Sons and Daughter.. On investigation of their outdoor enclosure it was soon realised the scope of the escape.. 2 more Ferret where seen to be running around.. On inspection of their large enclosure a weakness was found the said ferrets had dug out 12inches of stone to then proceed and dig further down and under the entrenched board... On doing a Count of the missing Ferret's.. it was found that 5 of the ferret's had all gotten out.. In custody was Theodore Edward Bear.. Simon.. Still missing was Alvin and Lucy..Pinga their Mum was also on the Lamb.. A Ferret was seen sneaking along the back fence in the Lane way..[ROW - Right of Way].. So the chase was on.. The carry cage was grabbed and the pursuit was on.. Pinga was seen and captured as she popped her head up from under a few pieces of wood.. The chase was on down the ROW and Pinga in the cage was placed on the ground and an advance patrol was done down the ROW.. On returning to the Cage low and behold Alvin was seen to be bouncing towards the cage.. Mind you this whole section of the ROW was full of Branches thrown over the back fences and Grass Plus, the grass in the ROW had not been Cut in Year's.. Well at this stage 4 of the escapee had been recovered.. 1 was still missing.. Lucy was no where to be found.. Then Bo-jangle's was back in the chase.. Scratching to indicate that the last ferret was last seen in the disconnected Drainage pipe.. on inspection of the far end Lucy was seen hiding under the clutter in the tool shed area.. she then proceeded to head back towards the Drain pipe when she was finally cornered and caught... All 5 missing Ferret's were recovered and NO loses to the wilds of suburbia at this time.. - An issue of their outdoor enclosure was found and due to the nature of the Fault the Ferret shall be denied access to the outdoor area until such a time as it has been fully Closed and sealed UP.. ![]() The Escapee's.. Theodore Edward Bear. Alvin Simon Lucy and Pinga their Mum.. [I think she followed them to make sure that they did not get into to much trouble] The END.. The AIM of this tail is to point out That if you Did not know it "The Ferret is extremely smart and persistent in their pursuit of Exploration".. In their outdoor area they have dug a few hole down until they have hit a Barrier..[Hard Layer/Mesh] The Question is...??? - How did Theo get into the house.?? I'm not sure.. IF "Bo" dropped him in my Room or if he followed my scent into the house.. Either way it is an amazing piece of Work on Theo's entry into the house.. Yes there is a Doggie Door.. Theo is my favourite of this years Kit's and comes to me to play all the time.. he like to be picked up, have his belly scratch and general play around.. Juergen.. Psst All escape are on Bread and Milk Rations till Further notice.... -- [ Yes I'm Joking on the Bread and Milk] |

That is precious. I am thinking that if you had been caught by the police and they asked what are you doing. You answer "looking for ferrets", Or 'just ferreting around in the laneway" lol, they'd probably say sure and bundle you in to the back of the paddy wagon. |

Hilarious. They're very cheeky. I used to own a ferret; it played with the cat. Occasionally, it would try and eat the cats face. That was normally the end of playtime. |

Yes they are extremely cheeky.. As soon as the kit's got released back into the general population.. Theo was off to the exit of the indoor section to see if he could get out and try to escape again.. All I can say is thank G I decided to screw the plank over the exit to the outdoor section.. So there is no playtime for the ferret's until I get home either late Thursday night or Friday.. Even then all their play time shall have to be supervised until I get the concrete strip done along the fence line... Please don't say I'm being cruel to the ferret because they are indoor all the time.. They only have an area of about 2.5m x 5m of floor space let alone all the multi-level areas to play in.. They even have their own little below ground play area in the indoor/undercover section... I am waiting for their winter coats to come on... I hoping that the kit's keep their dark coloration.. and don't lighten off like their day.. but een then the will have a lovely coat... Mmm wondering how many ferret I would need for a fur coat.. That it for the current ferret report.. More later maybe after I go to the movie's.. Juergen |

Hi SnowT What breed of dog is Bojangles - he looks like a cross between a Bouvier de Flanders and a Labrador.? Think the ferret coat is a NO NO but ferret underwear would be a real winner. WD and OH |

glad you got them back snow, had my 3 get out and were never seen again! Mine didnt bite, so I was guessing that whoever found them kept them.. or the goshawks around here got them, but I wasnt sure on that, ferrets can be firey buggers |

At the moment we have 8 ferrets of our own, 3 rescue ferrets and 5 boarding ferrets. At the start we went through it all, digging out, climbing the brick walls and jumping off things to get out of their enclosure and evening if we didnt push the back sliding door fully closed they manage to push that open and pull fly screane open if we didnt shut that proply either. took a bit but now we have it sorted now we have 2 ferret proof enclosures for them one is 8m x 3m and the other is 6m x 1.5m |
