Well Charlie mentioned jet packs in another thread which reminded me that some of Rupe's cousins are working on a revoltionary new jet pack.

Solotrek made on similar but they went out of business. It looks like this flight was still in ground effect, which is "easy".

Edit: Apparently Solotrek is still in business but it doesn't look like they've done anything for five years.

I check up on these every so often:

Moller: I think they are really close to bankruptcy. http://moller.com/dev/

Urbanaero: http://www.urbanaero.com

FanWing: I like this one http://www.fanwing.com

CarterCopters: This one actually flies, unlike all the others: http://www.cartercopters.com

They have been able to make working ones since the 60s.
They all suffer the same issue though, engine failure=death
And it is the hurdle that IMO will always stop commercial production

Yea, I would rather have an exosuit. Something with airbags in case of engine failure...
