Was just about to post something as well... checked Ivan's facebook, and Deb posted about 3 hours ago..

Quote:
will be so relieved when Ivan is home and together we can find out it our home is there or not. hopefully they will allow residents back in later this afternoon - heartbreaking not knowing

So, best wishes Ivan & Deb... hope things are still standing...

Two 30+ deg days, strong wind and a storm front coming in all predicted and DEC do a burn off in an area that has not been burnt for years. Crazy.

The decision to burn with predicted conditions is a bit weird...

But the area has been part of a "prescribed burn" for several months from what I've heard... this was part of the process... other burns had already taken place...

I'm a vol bush fire fighter and have done many a burn off.... IMO that burn should never have happened and a lot of my colleagues have the same opinion

Yup, it should have been cancelled. The fuel load was way to high to risk a flare up that close to homes.

Mind you, the same fire could well of happened in 2 months time, with even worse results.
