Hey guys,

I was thinking that the "General" forum could do with a "Acronyms and Terms" topic for us beginners.

For instance, I read a lot of posts before diving in, but I had to do a fair bit of digging to find out what IBC stood for.

I've now just come across the term "venturi drain" and a quick google search reveals nothing concrete. Can someone with a bit of knowledge start such a thread (hopefully a sticky)? It will help us newbies understand what you experts are ranting about?

If you are familiar with MF's system you will know about his standpipe in the fish tank which is used to drain the water out. A similar system is often used in aquaculture and they call it a venturi drain. Maybe the way they set it up creates a venturi effect and sucks in air (which I guess a drain of this nature would - does in the grow-beds).

That is a confusing term. So different from a venturi, similarity - adds air, doesn't require power.
