not totally ap related, but close i learnt to never add additives to your FT to make it look pretty. i added this stuff - Attachment: IMG_1048.JPG [ 52.82 KiB | Viewed 6674 times ] to give the plants a boost, and its made the tank foam, probably from the potassium. also tank has gone dark tea brown, again probably from the potassium. these pics are taken after 3x30 and 1x50% water changes. foam almost reached the light before. the good thing is the fish dont seem to be affected by it all also, its a 220ishL tank, and i only added enough for 150L. hate to think of what wouldve happened if i added the full dose!

Ever heard of the fish called the Malawi Eye Biter? Apparently the name is a load of rubbish, however, when I kept them...

Up to 11 inches. I should post up pics of all my fish really! These are my pride and joy Lichnochromis acuticeps, or Malawi Gar for short One of my fav photos of two males fighting, it looks like all the fish in the background are hanging round in a circle chanting "fight fight fight"

I just gave away most of my fry. I just changed from African to American Cichlids. Upside: Aggressiveness Downside: Size, most of my fish now get bigger than 30cm. The Umbriferus (Umbee's) and Dovii grow to 60 cm. I was thinking of trying them in the AP one summer when they breed. You are welcome to some nigrofasciata (convict cichlids) if you want some, they'll live in a 3ft tank, but nothing else will! Some of my old fish Electric Blue ![]() 7 Bar Frontosa (Taken by a friend... Cheers Ronny!) ![]() Dimidiochromis Compressiceps (The male Malawi Eye Biter, taken by Ronny again) ![]() Juvenile Usisya Peacock - He met an unfortunate end before colouring up properly, from what I call my exam voodoo... ![]() Electric Yellows ![]() A friends Geophagus sp. "Columbia/Venezuela" yawning One of my Neetropolus ![]() And to explain my exam voodoo, I am currently studying part time at uni while working full time. Obviously during exams I struggle to do much other than work and study, and maybe get a few hours sleep every now and then. But, for the last 3 semesters, every single time I have had exams, they day I finish my last one I look at my fish which always manage to get a little neglected for the weeks leading up to my exam, and I find something wrong. First time it was the death of about 200 fry. Second time, a fish had wedged itself under a rock at the back of the tank and died, by the time I discovered it the ammonia spike had done the damage and I lost about $600 worth of fish that I imported from Sydney Last time... yesterday, I noticed white spot in my favourite tank that was definately fine on Sunday, it has already taken out one female Nothing kills the after final exam good mood more than coming home to this every time!

No more than most cichlids. They need a harder water than the Leuco's. There are heaps of peacocks around, but they cross breed like anything, so it is hard to get good ones, which is a shame as they are a stunning fish. You can always get Aulonocara baenschi, they are similar but with less blue. You could keep a pair in a 3 ft |
