Outcry Over Tax on rain water

Read it this morning and am horrified.

and then there is this quote.
Mr Matthews said in his email: "It is important to think of the capture of water from any source in an integrated way.

"If 1000 homes were to install 5000-litre tanks with an annual yield of 57,000 litres, this is 57 million litres that would not have reached a river or ground water system, or -- viewed another way -- is taken from either the environment's entitlement or another productive use."

That is suggesting that all rain water that falls ends up in river and ground water

I can't wait for the Tax on the Tax to come in! Oh wait G.S.T.

That's a bit funny. Would the next step be averaging the rainfall in your area and just taxing you based on the amount that could of been collected. LOL, Funny stuff.

The key word is "leaked" (to the press) - politicians playing their little mind games

"leaked" plans can also be good to guage public acceptance before actually sticking your neck out.............

They've already tried to control food with non seed producing veg, and now controlling rainwater, sadly, I'm not surprised.

Tax on rainwater hey. Can I then sue them if they dont deliver on time??

They will be taxing us on the air that we breath next.

Is their a Tax on using bore water? Same principle. When using a bore you are taking water out of from the water table. We don't have a bore here because they have to drill down too far... big $$$.

It doesn't makes any sense at all. Maybe in dense residential areas where there is just a sea of houses, but even a small tank will overflow in a decent shower, but in urban/semi urban areas there is plenty of exposed ground for natural water runoff.

Btw... It just peaked at 42 degrees (107 F) here outside. We don't have the aircon on, just two or three fans, and it is quite comfortable inside. Thank god for insulation and verandah all around the house. Both neighbors have their air cons roaring...

TC their putting gauges on all bores in the state if for business.

Won't happen in Qld (the smart State). Bet you $50 on tha t Steveo!
