The sun and Moon's influence on all life on earth is underestimated and misunderstood by modern cultures. I also think a lot of the knowledge of old was lost because of educated people 100 years ago, who didn't know what was going on in nature around them dismissed what they didn't understand as myths of simple peoples. The early farmers and professional meat hunters that worked for early railroads understood this and very efficiently brought the wild game numbers down to endangered levels. I plant by the farmers almanac and hunt by the solarlunar tables. I fish by the solarluner tables/tide charts and barometric pressure. With plants these influences are much more subtle than with game and fish. When your area enters into a major or minor activity period you can look into the cow pasture and see that most if not all the cattle are feeding, the dogs are playing in the yard, and the birds are flying around and chirping with the squirrels. When the activity period ends the cows will lay down, the dogs will lay on the porch and the birds will quiet down. All based on the influence/possible gravity of the sun and moon whether it is overhead or underfoot. I can’t say I buy into all the other planets influence but sitting in quiet woods you do not need to check the clock to tell you when the major activity period begins, the animal noise levels will do it.
