hey all,

long time no see. i've been busy welcoming my first child into the world.

Penelope was born last monday in what was an ecstatic experience for all concerned.

everything went well and we are very happy with the outcome. for us at least the home birth was awesome and the only way to go. we were of course lucky that Penelope was not breach and healthy enough to home birth safely.

i just wanted to share my joy with everyone.

theres nothing more empowering than birthing naturally. the female body is an amazing thing and should be respected.

to all the mums out there you galls rock. you are the pillars of society.

problem is all the pick have boobs in them.

i'll dig an "appropriate" one up for everyone.

I think we want pics of the baby BF not the mum derrr.

one thing i forgot to mention is that we also had a water birth. it was just lovely.

and before any smart arse asks, yes i did consider an AP birth but my wife was only willing to do so in an emergency . ie perth running out of tap water.

in case you can't tell i'm kidding btw. i'm not quite that mad yet. give me a few more years.

As for the AP birth - just think how quick the perch would clean up the placenta

protein, iron and vitamins. hmmm. this may not be as crazy as first thought.

speaking of feeding placenta's to animals, my dog went absolutely crazy over the placenta. no i didn't feed it to her but she was sniffing around like mad. obviously some good stuff in there.

did you know that some cultures used to (and still do) eat the placenta? its said to be great for recovering and helps prevent post natal depression. there are probably all sorts of hormones in there as well. i'm not sure as i haven't fully researched it.

i made up some placenta capsules for my wife for this reason. sure i'm weird but it can't do any harm. if it does happen to work, even placebo then its a darn good thing. can't say the same for some of the pharmaceutical meds on the market. never know what harm they could do.

so far they seem to be working.
