hey Mc Guyver, that video on permaculture is awesome i watched it a few days ago.

"the advent of agriculture created a positive feedback loop, the more food we produced, the more people there was" etc.

another good one...

this a great video on food waste. Its amazing how much we waste and claim to need more. we 'need' genetically modified crops to increase yields, for what? to throw it in the bin?

Work at any bakery, restaurant or supermarket to see how much is wasted, perfectly good stuff.

I recently asked a friend of mine who owned a farm about feeding refuse to pigs; it cant be done due to the red tape involved. (unless its for yourself / family ).

I for one welcome collapse, we'll go back to a common bloody sense way of living.

food will be priority though, my parents have seen it before. they grew up in communist Poland, and when the food shortages occurred (no food available in stores) farmers rode into town with a horse and cart full of potatoes. They were then given anything and everything, and they just rode out with gold watches, cars, furniture and whatever else could be bartered for.

Yeah, bring it on.. We've lost our appreciation of food and it's role in our survival, it's about time we were shocked back into the reality of things..

Watched "Forks over Knives" recently, really interesting stuff...

What has happened to us? Despite the most advanced medical technology in the world, we are sicker than ever by nearly every measure. Cases of diabetes are exploding, especially amongst our younger population. About half of us are taking at least one prescription drug and major medical operations have become routine. Heart disease, cancer and stroke are the country's three leading causes of death, even though billions are spent each year to "battle" these very conditions. Millions suffer from a host of other degenerative diseases. Could it be there's a single solution to all of these problems? A solution so comprehensive, but so utterly straightforward, that it's mind-boggling that more of us haven't taken it seriously? FORKS OVER KNIVES examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the so-called "diseases of affluence" that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.

you have two options ...bring the water to the people or the people to the water ....unless u have been thru a wet season in the Nth u will have no idea of the volume of water that flows out to sea ..meanwhile mugs in the capital city are on water restrictions ...in the same state , the same tax payers , the same politicians... the real future wealth in the west is not iron ore , gold etc etc ...it is water !!! look past the next 50 years ..what will the world population have in common!!! not enough WATER !! i dont buy the too expensive argument , what cost do u put on survival?.....
