Im no historian but pretty sure the US blockade was something to do with Japans actions in China

Anyway I reckon the whaling is no good possibly because of the BS that goes with it, scientific cull?? who are they kidding, call it what it is - fishing for whales, but then that would be against global laws. The teams lining up against whaling ships are very brave but push the envelope. They use laws and media very well to push a point. We should be careful we dont fall for the sales pitch coming from either side.
Australia often overstates its world importance and harms our creditability by doing so. We are a big country with very few people. We also have a social and environmental concious we can scarcely afford. We are wealthy per capita but not per area which makes us small fish in a very large pond.

I'm not sensing a lot of loving around here lately..... :flower: :)

History can often be subjective rather than purely factual, so it's a tricky one to debate.

Just so I can derail the topic...

I lost 300k frequent flyer miles when ANSETT went bust.
Since then I have been a Platinum frequent flyer with QANTAS earning near 1000000 frequent flyer points

So I am far from green....

I just remember being in Japan and whale wasnt very much on the menu.

I also remember, if my memory serves me, even in the 1990's some of the judges refused to eat whale on Iron Chef.

Glad to see them victorious. $400 of mine well spent.

If we overfish all the seas and kill off everything, we'll all be eating Tilapia, since there will be nothing else. I figure I might as well start now... I think aquaponics might end up being quite a factor in world hunger in the next 50 -100 years. Esp in places like Africa.
