yeah its differnt, iv been using it for years dont really notice the fact that its differnt.... but i use macs and Windoze a lot also....

first thing is to never treat it like windows, the File Systems are like chalk and cheese, as for installing applications, using Commandline is how i do it, never used the GUI one..... depending on what you need to do on it, it should have firefox already, and some media player, possibley open office as for printers, iv never used them on Ubuntu, most Wifi Cards are supported and simply click on the network tool up the top next too the clock and select your wifi router.

iv been trying to get the missus to use it but she wont, when she uses my laptop or netbook she has too... but her PC wont be changed over hahahaha....

i put it ont he kids computer to mess with them a bit :) but they know how to reboot into windows now :P

:laughing3: I had only used windows until I discovered it looking for a good recording program and a lot of people reckon its a good one.

When you first open Ubuntu its pretty cool - like a whole new computer world. (Sounds dumb but it is.) :)

The first thing I did was download Ubuntu Studio, from there I was lost - never worked out how to open it! By the sounds of it I might have been trying to access it the wrong way, might go back in and try by command line. Only thing is ive forgotten everything I learned at the time on how to use the thing :?

After i posted above I looked at Mint - might give that a go first maybe, its supposed to be a good stepping stone for a Linux newbie.
