Just re-awakening this thread to see if anyone has used IBCs that contained PVA? I've got the chance to get some next week for £10 each. They've been cleaned and PVA doesn't seem too toxic to me, so if a small residue is left it shouldn't be too bad.

What's the groupthink on PVA?

Might be able to find these if there is a food manufacturer nearby. Don't know if they will part with them but I noticed that the honey supply place nearby has around 100 stacked in their yard.

Has any one heard of Texanol. The IBC i have has no sticker on the side but has the word Texanol written on in texta. I was told that it had had glycerine in it. It appears to have been open, washed & aired for some time, smells clean. Any advice.

Todd

Texanol is harmful to aquatic organisms, see also http://actrav.itcilo.org/actrav-english ... 265774.htm.

Reawakening this thread, paid for 3 IBCs delivered, that were advertised as "non toxic, easy to clean, great for water storage". Got home from work to find "nuplex resins" written on it, and also "Viscopol 2046". Closer inspection revealed some clear-dried glue-like substance stuck to the caps and inside of the ibcs. Tried turning the draining taps and a small amount of white substance dripped out. Obviously not clean
As of yet i can not get in contact with the person i bought them off (wonder why?)

Any info/advice on whether I can use the IBCs for AP?? Are they safe (non toxic)?

If someone has received IBCs with same stuff, did you use it? how did you clean it?

Question Where was it advertised..

If Ebay contact them and tell them that they did not meet the standard of SAFE water storage..

Also find out what the MSDS say about the 2 product's..

It's one product. Nuplex is a chemical binder manufacturer and Viscopol is one of their product lines. If I had to hazzard a guess its base chemical is a styrene acrylic, but that is just a guess. I cannot find their MSDS's online so the OP will probably have to contact them.
