AM the pic at the top of your collage, is what we call a slater in vic. They generally avoid sunlight. If you have some warm dry wood near ur GH,there will be plenty of these on the underneath side. This one was prolly doing a recon for the tribe. The good news is ur fish will love them, when u find them.

These pictures are a little blurry, but I hope someone knows how to get rid of the bugs.

yellow sticky tape! :)
Whenever I tie some up it takes only seconds for them to fly to it (concentrated greenhouse environ.)
hang it close to the afflicted leaves.
There are biologicals (Encarsia is one) but try tape for whitefly first.

Here is some info to determine if that is what they are, and means of control:

have any of you taken a look at the nocturnal pests in your system? Nighttime is when I happen to see the most activity. Yesterday early in am, still dark, I saw a roach scurrying around in the grow bed. Not sure what it might have been after in the system. A few mornings earlier is when I caught my basil thieve. He was busy munching away when he met his end. That caterpiller never saw it coming as the torch blinded him silly.

The only nocturnals I have seen in my system is this rodent below... It met its end last night in one of the tanks... I found it this morning floating legs in the air (the fish were not too happy)

Thats a native marsupial of some sort isn't it? Doesn't look like a rat, tail is to short, back feet are wrong, head and mouth shape doesn't look right... I'd lay money on it being a native marsupial of some description..

I was told today that it is a bandicoot...
Apparently it is a subspecies of the Southern Brown Bandicoot... (a google image search came up with pic of bandicoots which look a lot like that dead "rat"

I do not quite understand unless your tanks are on the ground. Bandicoots are ground dwelling and they do not climb.

I had to look Red Back up. They're closely related to our Black Widow Spiders. Black Widows just have a red hourglass on the belly. The ones I've seen have been in woodpiles or piles of bricks. They live south of my current location, thankfully. Black Widows don't particularly care for water but I hear that Red Backs like toilet seats. ;)
