Im pretty keen to get into this whole home brew with gas injection caper. I spend a small fortune and bottled beer. Whats a good site to gather info mantis? Is there a particular brand you would give the :thumbleft:

Keggin would be nice, but the cost goes up a little with running an extra fridge, hiring gas bottles etc. Still beer on tap at home has to be a win!

By brands do you mean brands of kit can brews?? I brew all grain and this way you can make whatever sort of beer you like. I love pale ales so thats what I make.

You need a fair bit of equipment though. I have a 50L stainless pot/kettle,a 20L stainless pot (for heating sparge and topup water, 70L ice kool esky (mash tun) with false bottom (strainer), two fermenters, several kegs, a fermenting freezer with temp controller, beer fridge with tap in the door, a gas regulator and a hired CO2 bottle.

If you go to my blog and scroll down to click on older posts I gave a quick run down of the process with pics of the gear

Like your system. I've been brewing almost 20 years now, just from the Coopers tin's and a mix of sugars/flavour enhancers, but never gone down the route of making a mash or using kegs. Would love to, but I'm pretty lazy. So lazy I bottle in 2l coke bottles, and 750 brown plastic bottles.

Yep if it works, it works. I made all my mates drink long necks (king browns) for a while so all our homebrew (lets just call it HB) is in 750ml bottles. Twice as quick to bottle as the stubbies were...

Nothing wrong with coopers stout kits from memory. You could try one with brown sugar instead of white or even get a couple of tins of coopers dark liquid malt instead of sugar.

You can also add some lactose if you want something more like a Guinness; It adds sweetness but is not converted to alcohol by the yeast.

Well Faye got me doing some research and I have had an infusion going for the last month..

Well I drained and strained the concoction, it does taste very nice..

- Rose Petals, Dark[Red] and nice smelling.. yes they must have a Smell
- A bottle of Vodka.. Cheap/tasteless type.. is best..
- Some sugar..

Mix the whole lot up and place on a shelf in an airtight container shaking every now and again..
- Well it has been descanted and strained..

Smells like Rose's and has a very distinctive taste..
- home made Turkish Delight Liquor..

Very nice..

Good on you Juergen :thumbright:
I tried buying the liqueur at a couple of bottle shops, without success, might just have to take a leaf out of your book and collect me some rose petals and a bottle of vodka. Thanks for the reminder! Have you done the taste test yet?
