But, they didn't stop in for coffee, how could they have gone all that way and not visited with me?

I watched "Myth Busters" the other night where they were able to reproduce some of the photos and movies taken up there....to the point where it was hard to tell the difference. I guess some of the photos that NASA had had some weird shadow angles and lighting issues. It wasn't that they were trying to prove the photos were faked, but that they could have real and shot with a single light source. Good show...worth the time to watch it. Still leaves you wondering if it really happened or not!

I'm with Dave. I've yet to hear a decent argument for the landing being faked. But you can't convince a conspirator...

Cite your sources? Believe me, I think most Americans would much rather have gotten the technology from Australia than from the Nazis, but everything I've ever read has pointed to the Germans.

Bit like denying the halocaust ever took place, yet they are some who subscribe to that view. Ben Franklin said that " Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel!"

Unfortunately, you may have not read the correct sources? The Jindavik was ahead of the V1 and V2, just not recorded in history as fact. Who reached the peak of Mt Everest first? Who reached the North Pole first? Who developed Penicillan first? These are all points of conjecture by various "historians" of particular nationalities.
USA has always had a very parochial and insular view of the world. They really don't consider anything outside of their own borders to be significant or even exist!
It could well be that the versions you have read are not an accurate portrayal of history as it happened. For example: Japanese history books forget to mention their invasion of China, parts of WWII and anything to do with POW camps, especially in the Pacific.
Here in Oz, our history books leave out the massacre of Aboriginals both on the mainland and in Tasmania by our British settlers, so you are not alone in being told a version that may be a bit liberal with the truth.
Both German and Australian rocket scientists worked on the rocket program at the same time; here and in USA. The Germans, who weren't Nazis by the by, were disaffected persons in the main, who escaped from the German tyranny before being caught and interred. Werner van Braun et.al. hated the Nazi regime and worked effectivley to overthrow them.
It doesn't really matter one way or the other. We have far more important things to discuss and accomplish . . .like how do I cycle water around my AP system without using a pump? or how do I grow trout in water temps of 23 degrees plus?

Cheers IanK

And to put Woomera into perspective... much of the technology and funding... post war anyway...

Was from the Pommies... as part of their development of IBCM and nuclear delivery missles/systems... coz the US wouldn't give them the technology...

Same goes for the atomic tests in Australia...

Out of it all... Australia hoped to get access to nuclear and missle technology....

The Pommies did to us what the yanks did to them... shook our hands and said.. "been nice working with you old chaps... toddle pip"... and on their merry way they went...

Don't really know.
And yes, Hargreaves was a leader , but then again I lived in Narabeen in NSW and they laid a claim to the first 'powered' flight by a local long before O&W.
Everest:
Could have been Maurice Wison in 1933!
Or Irvine and "whats his name" a bit later, found their bodies recently; all Poms.
Sir Edmund was certainly behind Tenseng Norguy in his claim to fame.
Got to go now . . . after 5.. beer o'clock!
Cheers IanK :drunken:
