A severe weather warning has been issued for a large part of the State extending from Kalbarri to Albany as a cold front approaches.

The Weather Bureau is predicting heavy rain with possible wind gusts to 90km/h.

The bad weather is likely to start in the Augusta and Margaret River area this morning and extend to Perth and remaining parts during the day.

A bureau spokesman said the severe weather was expected to start about 11am when showers hit the metropolitan area and would gradually worsen into the afternoon and evening.

Follow the front

Stronger winds with damaging gusts to 100km/h are more likely tonight and Friday morning near the west coast and then in southern parts during tomorrow.

Localised stronger gusts with thunderstorms and small hail also possible, the bureau said.

The Fire & Emergency Services Authority and State Emergency Service has said people should secure loose objects, move vehicles under cover and stay inside away from windows.

People caught outside should find shelter away from trees, powerlines, storm water drains and streams.

Boatowners should make sure their boats are securely moored.

I note the suggestion to securely Moor boats :funny1: I tied up the house :thumbleft:
Lots of thunder( BOOM!!!) , not much lightening but heaps of rain :upset:
The last week has 'topped up' the rainwater tanks :cheers:
So now on my 4th cuppa and have a day off to RELAX

We don't have a rain gauge but the guy a few blocks up has one, I'll ask him what we got.
Witchy is about 7ks west of here
...we're on a ridge between 2 valleys ( Margaret river & Boodjidup creek)
the weather seems to have moderated a bit and it is lighter outside, just constant rain now.

Watching the dark clouds coming in now, don't reckon we'll get too many people in the shop today.

Yep, these are the dark clouds rolling in, man, rare to see yellow on the radar around here let alone some orange/red, I reckon we have about 10 minutes...

It is pouring now... and this map thing is pretty accurate... got a yellow part approximately over my area now... looks like there maybe some red coming as well...
