I have a 6100 pounder with 4x4, 6 liter vortex engine. It gets 13 mpg hyw and 8mpg pulling a big trailer (6000 pounds also). Now the gasoline is $2.60US/gal. What is the damage in oz? Does diesel predominate? Of course we use a car when we can.

ems, we came to Whitehorse in the Yukon with the beast this summer. Gas was about 50% higher in the Canadian Provinces! ouch!!!

Well we are paying $1.41 ltr 3 hours south of perth,
perth is paying about 1.21.
There are 2.79 ltrs per US gal and the au$ is 80c US$,
so that is $3.93 A$ per US gal less exchange..
about $2.94 US a US gal.
Hope this helps...
Diesel is way more expensive A$1.60 ltr.

Thanks creative1.

$1.21 x 3.78liter/gallon = $4.57AU/gal X 0.8 = $3.66US/gal

Diesel is more here as well.

Looks like our prices are good compared to world prices. Your cost is similar to Canada. Every country gets crude for about the same price. So, it must be government taxes that make the difference.

Edited : Beat me to the maths DB

You guys are doing better than us....Must have a direct source somewhere

Our pricing is based on the Singapore "Refined" rate not the crude barrel price.... just another way to confuse and rip the consumer off

We are paying $2.47 for diesel in El Salvador per US Gallon and $2.75 for Gasoline. Diesel is much cheaper her wo more diesel vehicles, including mine.

I have BHP stock. I thought they had oil wells in oz?
Then again, Alberta, Canada is full of oil and gas costs about what you pay.
Taxes, taxes, taxes, or is it lack of refineries?

Ah Rupert...sounds like you need some refineries. Oz must be importing refined product. We need more refineries too. Takes about ten years to get one built...needs lots of permits and hearing just to get started.

China is bidding up comodity prices, including oil, cement, steel, COPPER!!, and you name it!

Doug, we do have refining capacity here (don't know if it's enough)....
and as far as I know most of our stock is refined in Aust...

but we still use the refined price regardless....

wonder why ???

Then our pricing seems to rise (dramatically) around "pay" days and long weekends/holidays etc....

Not that they've ever been able to prove any cartel pricing.... where's my white blind cane......... LOL

Yeh DB funny thing is that we are more than 80% selfsuficient.
I watch closely the oil prices and there is no co-relation between the price per barrel and the price we pay.

And I know I'll get a bite...

but for over ten years nearly [s]75%[/s] (edited... typo) 57% of the worlds reserves (Iraq) was essentially unavailable to the market other than a small percentage allowed by the oil-for-food program.....

yet the price was less than half the current price....

Ok maybe demand was less (ie pre China boom)....

But Iraq now has the ability to produce at almost complete 100% capacity.... that's [s]75%[/s] 57% of known world reserves.....

Has China pushed demand up by 50% + ??

Sorry ... Just doesn't add up to me ....

But I really do think the market is being deliberately manipulated.

we give them gas (LNG) for a cent a ltr and they give us higher prices works well Eh!
Plus with the effort they(China) are putting into GHG's reduction I can't see them ever using gasoline at the rate we do.per head of pop'.

Rupert, 75% of world supply!!! Will that fit under Iraq?

C1, ONE penny a liter??? I hope you get paid for transport...say a dollar a liter

With energy so uncertain and expensive, I am very vulnerable in this cold climate. I do not have enough trees on my property to heat for more than one winter. Then it is hard times. The greenhouse is a step in the right direction. Energy is my non-independent killer commodity.
