well, it seems i underestimated our rainfall. Been raining heavy all night, had over 50mm, which is our average for the month. The 1000lts of space i had created in the big tank was filled by 6pm last night. Had to open the slide valve to allow the water that fills the big tank to get away via the stormie drain. New ibc was filled at 8pm last night, got it plumbed an hour b4 it started raining!

Still pi$$ing down. Flood warnings everywhere, 150mm in some of the otway catchments. This is a once every year or so event, wish i had more tanks, sigh. We tend to be a lot more aware of the value of rainfall now than even a couple of years ago. Hope it rains all day too.

50mm has turned into 65mm. Got some ground water in my sump pit, about 15cm, perhaps a hundred litres. Need to keep an eye on it. I think it was from the overflow from the big tank last night prior to me opening the stormie slide valve. Don't need any floating sump tanks so digits crossed.

well, 75mm has pulled it up, 3 inches on the button. Will keep an eye on the sump pit to see how long it takes to drain away. Still a bit showery but the main rain is gone. With no real hot weather on the horizon, this should keep things nice and green for a month. Now, about that gh plastic.............

Had a very useful couple of days consistent soaking rain (mostly during the nights)......

Wasn't actually prepared for it, but I'll find a way to use it.... overnight, probably about 2000 ltrs.... and that's just straight capture not off the roof .... :D

good to see no strategic use of a level...Rup

Well I thought I could put in a pic that a lot of ppl
in Oz and the US would have seen...
this was thursday...
Thank goodness there happened to be a training session
that coinsided with the wildfire.
The photo is from our back lawn looking S.E. the breeze was S.W.
so hadn't realised the fire was even happening!
::grumblebumwantstoknowwherethephonenetworkbrokedown::
The fire was quickly '[s]put[/s] bombed out' and 'mopped up' by the landcrew.
Just need to unpack the car and find some new Reg grundys
(was that pilot you Les?)

Cheers Del,
The pic is a bit blurry, but basically when the smoke and sound of burning stuff is that close you should have by now decided whether to stay or go.
apparently, a fire permit was issued but the RFB were not informed or in attendance, like they should have been.
Good experience considering it was controlled...
Those waterbomber pilots are cool eh they rule!
