Why do you think that ?
I am a member of several other forums that have those buttons and I have no idea what you are talking about.

partly what rupert said, but more to the point..... it stifles conversation.
why reply when you can just press a button?

how can you reply to someone who just presses a button? You cant, that automatically removes 2 posts.
the less people post on a forum, the less people post. It is a self perpetuating cycle.

And imagine the clamor for equal representation... and the effect... of a "dislike" button..

That'd be a forum breaker...
