On another note if you think all things from governments are good then you may want to check this out it could be in your interests to do so.

No, coke machines are all owned by Coke, they are the target of this campaign. If you check this out you will see they are all coke machines, coke trucks, coke displays, etc..http://www.facebook.com/itsoutoforder?ref=stream Not third party little businesses with no name vending machines.

And please, leave the politics out of it, that has nothing to do with this topic at all..

SV, I've asked nicely, I'm not going to ask again.. This is not a political discussion, and neither is the forum. You consider any topic political and try to turn them political, just as a devoutly religious person might make almost any topic of conversation into a religious debate.

I think those that are arguing that companies/corporations.. like Coke... will do the right thing.. if just left alone, and to the own devices/social concience....

Have their arguement invalidated.... by the fact that Coke... neither has... or wants to... in fact appears to be actively resisting it....

Either that... or they're just motivated by some ideological stance....

I think you'll find that if you read the first page of this thread again, it was political before I became involved :)
Unless you think that comments about the government intervening in the way a company wishes to trade is not political :D

Is this actually true ? I was under the impression that a vending machine franchiser could own/rent either the machines or at least the plot on which the machines are installed. I'm not so sure now...?

Corporations will also pollute "the commons". When has there ever been no "commons" ?

if you look for business for sale you can buy a vendor run to give a steady income (maybe you cant stock coke products in those machines)
and the original picture of the out of order sign was on a Franklin water machine
it is not political to suggest that causing somebody to fall foul of the banks in not being able to maintain payments on the loan used to buy the vending machine business is in jeopardy because some well meaning person has sent him bankrupt.

this is no less believable than those tiny fragments of plastic in the bird picture are really bottle tops.
the issue is also not about supporting coke but that they used the existing law and the law was found wanting
the method of changing the situation is basically faulty,

change the law however you can, is fine you, have that right and it’s the same right that coke has to challenge changes.

if you had ever lived in tweed heads you may have a better understanding of what you’re asking
when nsw had pokies and qld did not there was a booming business in getting people across the border to use them and the same when cigarettes had different state taxes on them, a booming trade from one state to the other,
and we can move on to daylight savings one side of the street is an hour different that the other side

ask as many people as you want to follow you and boycott coke I’m very happy with that, I have not bought a product from them in over 30 years, so must be a high ranking officer of the boycott club by now.

I remember being able to take back a bottle and get 5 cents and buy a cream bun and a bag of mixed lollies, not the same thing cost closer to 5 dollars now, so maybe there is some disparity in the amount of incentive

while we are at it why not have a 1 cent refund for cigarette butts that would be 30 cents a packet that would keep my pet hate happy

though I have never thought of stopping people from making a living from selling to the suckers that do use them.

so boycott, use shock and awe and bad pictures but don’t interfere with other people’s lives

that starts to smell a little like believe what I believe or I will shoot you stuff, oh wait they do that already it’s called religion.

Some times its fun to poke the zealots,

No one has suggested anything of the sort, as I said, this is about targeting coke (& Co) machines and coke displays, not people with privately owned vending machines. The coke/mount franklin machines are all owned by coke, maintained and stocked by coke.

No I've never lived in Tweed heads, and this is a classic example of why a law was enacted to solve a very real problem, and now that same law used by coke in a very different situation.

5c deposit on cigarette butts? Hell yeah...!!! :)

I ask again, is this actually true? Do you have proof or is this an assumption ?

If you have a look on that facebook page you will see a lot of glass front vending machines. These are typically owned by small businesses.

There are many very small businesses operating a vending machine frachise (single business owner, mum and dad type). You can get pretty much any kind of vending machine from various sources.

Here is one. Is this what you consider a "branded" machine, that a franchise ownder can actually buy ?

Thats one of the best ideas I have ever heard!
Much better than my idea of shoving them down the smokers throats, especially seen as most smokers are bigger than me. :P
