I am a member of many Forums not only AP. But today I received an email from one of the sites, stating:

Hi, This is to let you know about a new Members Group we have created especially for "Do It Yourself" enthusiasts. The new Membership Group is a paid subscription. This section contains information about building your own Aquaponics system from recycled materials, or new tanks and grow beds that you are going to connect together into a system of your own design. If you need assistance to build your own in the form of advices and plans then you may wish to join the Aquaponics DIY Group by subscribing. The very modest investment of $12.50 per quarter allows you unlimited access to the files and articles that apply particularly to DIY Aquaponics.

What $50 a year for information that "We" have provided freely.

My understanding is that the information that is posted on "Forums" is public domain information, people give their information freely in that we all learn from each other. God knows how many people have benefited from Affnan's info.

Just tell me to shut up if you think I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Please post a link to it as there seems to be some confusion as to who its from

Good morning Fella's

Usually I'm just a lurker here (too many forums to participate in!)

Paul (aka Crusty) has not dummy spit at all over at APHQ. He is flat out busy at the moment and has found that he was spending WAY too much time on forums talking, talking, when he should have been focussing on working his livelihood. Good on him, I say. Sometimes it is helpful to know when to shut-up for a while.

We all have to prioritise our efforts. Anyway, this is offtopic to this thread.

Back on topic.

I was surprised Murray is going in this direction. I don't believe he has fully though out the idea yet. The DIY IBC thing is fine, but going anywhere near selling subscriber access to already freely given information is a slippery slope for credability. He has at least sectioned off forum access, but it needed to start out empty of posts or only HIS inputs, otherwise the contributors are well within their rights to hold their hands out for compensation. Of course no one would do that, but the principle remains that contributions were freely given by many helpful members of which a number of you here are.

Send Murray a offline note politely asking for a please explain, would be my recommended action. I'll be doing the same shortly.

Have a awesome day everyone, I'm off to Horsham, so Mantis I'll wave as I go past! ;-)

Cheers
Mark E.

Not that I really care one way or another Mark... but come on... :laughing3:

Gary wrote:
The reaction to some of his recent posts has also caused him to question whether he wants to contribute his knowledge in light of the treatment that he has received.

His concern was not with APHQ members but (given that anyone can see APHQ material) that he was helping to educate the very people who were attacking him.

To that end, he has asked to me delete his threads.......a request with which I have reluctantly agreed.

Mate, that's not "I'm out of here for a while guys coz I'm so busy".... that's a dummy spit...

You will find that threads here hardly remain on topic for long. :D

Thats the charm about this forum. We can speak our minds without fear of being edited, booted or belittled. All hail the moderators :notworthy:

I would challenge you to question the high number of guest browsers on APHQ and see if that is taken kindly. For a forum with such infrequency of posts, there sure are alot of guests.

Back on topic...

Selling information to people is going to happen regardless. Those that have the time or inclination will browse through threads will do so. Those that want the information in 1 page will pay for it. On a free forum, a question is asked and it MAY be answered and it MAY be correct and the one asking questions MAY take the answer up. In a subscription service, someone asking a questions will EXPECT and answer and EXPECT it to be correct and if anything goes wrong with that advice.....

I think Crusty is just missunderstood.
If we all gave him a chance , if we listened to his superior kinowledge and infinate intellect we would all be better off. If only we had the supreme knowledge to see that crusty MUST be the worlds ultimate ruler and king , then there would be no anticrustism,
You will be crustied.
Resistance is futile.
