I'm ok.... it was scary though... we had to close shop 2 hours early though we did still keep serving our customers.
cars dented everywhere, puddles in the middle of major roads, including the freeway  tree and plant debri everywhere, power outage in many shops and the suburban area around Innaloo westfield shopping centre. All the traffic Light intersections were out too.
I had to drive on the grass whenever I came to a puddle.. there were long lines all over the place of people driving slowly and carefully through the puddles... they're mad if they think they can drive through all of them without getting wet in the process.
My ap system is fine though my seedlings got wrecked and the fish survived... lots of broken pots and garden though :(

Just got home from work and straight out to check on fishy ishy wishys. I think first issue on my list tomorrow is overflow.
Water level is now about 4cm from top of tank. I am glad I held off with top up. Shade cloth still over most of plants and roma tomatoes out in open looking a little saggy.
Been working in Shelley and the storm was bad. Its not far from BYAP. I know what you went through Joel.
On way home, lights out, cops directing traffic around trees and wires over road.
No hail at home luckily and no leak in eaves!!!

Hmmm, went down to the shop at 11.00, power still out....... :( Checked battery back up air pumps were still running, stuck extra batteries into a couple I was worried about... Fingers crossed everything will be ok in the morning, will have been about 18 hours without power by then.

Jeez - didn't I speak too soon. Next time I put a post up saying everything is ticketyboo, someone tell me to shutup !

Had a box drain above the front entrance that couldn't cope and water pouring into the area near the front door in the house though the lights.

Fortunately we were home, noticed it straight away and were able to manage with a lot of towels and buckets, so no real damage done and we didn't lose power. So, we actually got off pretty light compared to others.

Pumped about 800L out of the FT as well.

hi all,
my ap got a bit of a hit.
power went off from 5.30pm to 6.15am.
at about 9.30pm about 150 silver perch(about 12cm) in 2100 Lts all up gasping for air in pond and 5 large silver inside the house aquarium also gasping for air. i took my cheap battery airpumps from k.mart $9.99 and put one in the aquarium and one in the pond. in the aquarium the 5 silver comes back to life after 2 hours. in the pond seem like nothing happen...fish still up gasping for air however this morning when the power comes back on the silver perch seem fine again... it's a close call , i think!
i guess that even a little bubble is better than none.

Started chucking hail down at me at 4 in the afternoon here , power out till 1am

so I got a beer and put on a helmet and went outside catching hail to show my daughter ( she's never sen it before ) and we sat and ate frozen rain out the front till there was no light , then I went and helped with all the beer over the road that was in danger of going warm ....

silvers all sirvived thanks to a foot powered air pump every 3 hours

mmmmm , shredded silverbeet
the only thing we lost was the 70 quail eggs in the incubator , although they may still hatch so I'll leave em in there & see .
flooded the back yard JUST under the doorstep though

I had no power here for 14 1/2 hours all up so it was quite a test for my backup power plans. The end result was that I was up half the night checking everything and refilling the generator. Can someone remind me why I got into fish farming??
No posts from anyone at BYAP today so presume they are still without power.

Its funny how we go down certain paths sometimes, a bit like auto pilot at times, one thing leads to another and another...........

Hi guys, we got hit pretty bad here... no hail but the amount of water that came down, flooded my garage, backyard and frontyard... I was standing there thinking... 'shit the house is going to be next'... luckily the rain did not get any bigger through the night and the water slowly backed off... and all this without power from 5.30pm.... we just got our power back about two hours ago... so close to 18 hrs without power...

My car battery backup system got tested ... I think it lasted about 10hrs... as when I woke up to check again at 5.30am, no air and no power still... By this time, the water was not looking too good... I rigged up my other inverter, plugged it into the car, plugged in extension leads, and start the water pump going with the car... flooded the growbeds and a bit and then shut it down.... Did it for a few times...

By mid morning, we approached our neighbour (just on our back fence), they seem to be on a different power grid and they had power... so threw an extension cord over and got the water pump running again...

What a dramatic evening...

I had a pressure filter explode on Thursday nigh and pump my tanks down to a few inches of water. Luckily I am down to about 1000 fish so they were fine with air... but the hassles of it all, had to empty all the beads out of the filter put it on a pallet and get it to the truck depot so it could go off and get fixed... upshot... I think, WTF is the point? But yet, i keep going and after a poor spawning result this year and more demand for fish, I am off to Get another 15000 fish on SUnday. A glutten for punishment

Power is still out, and we don't really expect it to be back on in a hurry. Evidently there was a lightning strike at a local main substation that dropped a pole onto equipment, western power is still saying unknown reconnection time...

We ended up losing a few Black bream this morning, air pump must have run out not that long before we got to work as we lost about half of them, and the rest seem ok now.

Generator is running, and systems have been cut down to a minimum, the small lightly stocked systems only have air running because the generator can't take the load of everything.

The most annoying thing was that I didn't manage to get the chock wedges out of the freezer in time.. I should have eaten them last night.. :)
