all leafy greens (spinach, pak choi, lettuce) except for snow peas.

I think the current phase is for root veggies.

At least i didn't plant in the weeding / mulching phase LOL!

Full Moon Phase ....
All activities listed for the New Moon phase are just as successful if done now. The last two days of this phase, just before the Full Moon are considered optimum for planting

Not completely optimum but good enough....

i.e All activities listed for the New Moon phase are just as successful if done now.

This weekend would be the best time for almost everything as full moon is 02/04/07

Waxing Gibbous
68% of Full
Tue 27 Mar, 2007
86 days to solstice
178 Days to Equinox
as general rule if the moon is getting smaller less pull above ground.
root crops.
increasing in moon leafy crops with be assisted by an increase in pull.
then there is aheap of other variables.

Right C1, took your advice and have been doing a bit of studying with this moon planting concept, found this site which has a calculator to work out new/full moon times/dates for any given year, UTC times: New/full moon times .......also calculates how far the moon is away

Now where do the zodiac signs fit in

Best I put up this one seeing you are talking about waxing gibbous (now 93%'ish)
Lunar phase

And for anyone that's ever wondered ... a blue moon....

is the second full moon in a month... happens about every 2.5 years...

i.e June 2007 has two full moons 01/06/07 and the blue moon on 30/06/07

... or at least that's the popular, most recent (circa 1946) definition...

so you see once in a blue moon is actually a lot more often than you might have thought

Just to kick this off a bit and show what should be planted (moon wise) - some info I found on the web, full moon shortly so changing from waxing to waning.

Best fruit and seed period (Bris times)
3:00pm Thursday through to 11:00am Sunday 1 Apr 07
Plant tomatoes, peas, beans, corn, eggplant, pumpkin, and capsicum.
(Avoid two hours before and after Moon's lower nodal point @ 9:00 pm on March 31)

Best root period (Bris times)
1:00pm Sunday 1 Apr 07 through to 8:00am Thursday 5 Apr 07
Plant carrots, beets, turnips, potatoes and all tubers.

Nup - time zone related only, those in Perth subtract 2 hours etc, remember it is only a guide - gonna see how it goes.

When researching, found talk about stalks being spindly, stalks splitting, fruiting taking longer, etc if planted at wrong times

good to see your on the money there
pretty simple realy hey Les.
C1
bet yr germination rates go up
The way I see it ..if a crop has a particular growing time and is planted part way thru the cycle the plant has to squeeze growth out to finish on time and as such may be leggy or not produce if the growth phase is longer or shorter that the required.

Yep C1, really starting to get interested in it - beats just tossing them in and hoping for the best, now to see if it works, will keep updating although we start doing the root crops and nothing phase until the new moon around 17 Apr
