More of a pump with seven outlet lines for a supply of water to each plant pod, a drip set up, or constant trickle. I emagine a pump that could do a mister would be a bit more powerfull but not sure.
They have additions to the light fixture that allows it to be raised much higher allowing Toms and such.
Now sure the water/root area would support that much growth. I'd wager no. So it is size limited. I think its very portability is one of its assets but for sure over priced. Pity, molded plastic should be fairly cheap.
I agree on a table holding 40lbs Tam, was thinking more of it being easly moved about, so for that aspect I spose 5 gallons would be the limit perhaps less, I think it would be important to keep the systems basic shape as well, sort of futuristic?
I had read somewhere that the roots get starved for O2 so an air stone addition would be needed as well.
Who is the wizard on fish ratios?
How many guppies would it take to grow 7 lettuce plants in a 5 gallon house? Would it still be humain in half that amount of water?

Well it seems to work the little plants are reaching out towards the light so water will make a seed sprout. Bet you all knew that already huh.

I was working a show at the Disney Contemporary Hotel a while back and in one of the back corridors they had a whole rolling rack full of these things with spindly little herbs in em. Actually it may have been the same group that you have there but they had gotten taller/leggier. I'm not sure what the point of them was unless they were using them as center pieces or decorations on buffet lines.

I think it is a kinda neat package to start some one (who is not DIY inclined) into Hydroponics. Sleek looking in the kitchen and such. But way too small for more than a few small kitchen herbs.

Cool that you are getting to play with one and use it for ideas!

seems you could top off with fish water, and get pretty good results.

no need to void your warranty - yet.
