it REALLY messes with their heads and they won't come near you again for weeks :evil5:

Nice.

That might have worked, but this guy was mean. Spawn of satan mean :)

I've met quite a few roosters, some nicer than others, but this one was ill in some way. I've never wanted to kill anything before I met this thing. I know this is all so very wrong to be saying, but it's true. It was attacking my mum and drawing a lot of blood. I think my brother eventually shot it from a distance.

We put our next rooster in a cardboard box, and kept him in the lounge room for two days with nothing but us for company.

When we took him outside, he shouted at the top of his lungs and finally the girls came and sat down in front of him (I didn't know they did that, they always seemed to be avoiding our angry rooster). I think the poor guy thought he was a human after two days in our lounge room. He literally hid behind a chair we had outside until they went away :)

We made our rooster chicken.

Later he would scratch like crazy and pretend he had found lots of good stuff to eat so the girls would come to investigate, but he was faking every time. It worked well for him for about a week until the girls wised up.

Let that be a lesson to you young men.

Not the faking riches bit that worked well for a week, that's not the lesson.

The bit where it only lasted for a week. That's the lesson.

Be nice or else.

Chickens are great. None of this will happen to you when you get chickens.

All the other chickens I've ever met were really nice to have around. There is something very soothing and right about seeing chickens and things like sheep going about their business.

One of my favourite things is seeing a chicken (and seal) on a 16c sunny day sunning itself with one wing up and out. Makes you want to close your eyes and face the sun.

I'll shut up now :)

Worst roosters ive heard about are andalusians, they seem to be overly mean.

I like the heritage ones, anconas and araucanas are my fav's. Getting decent ones is the problem so right now i only have one half ancona/hyline cross and 5 hylines.

Think i will try get some of my favs again, love the blue eggs from the aracanas!
