Well, seems that quiet a sizable proportion of the American public put that particular "turtle" on the post Angie...

And I have no doubt there are a few that would like to knock him off the post...

For reasons of old and worn dogma and ideology... or for some, even just because of his genetic origin...

And I bet a lot of those turtle knockers have particular religious leanings as well.... probably the same people that levered the abomination of Bush & Cheney onto the world stage... sanctioned torture, kidnap, spying on civilians, overturning of civil, human and democratic rights....

And generally lied, cheated, and abused power in the most base of ways.... oh, and probably made a lot of money doing it... all in the name of "principle" of course..

Had me buggered as well..... :?

Some people go a little far with their number plates. That's not too bad, I've seen some that take ages to work out with their letters and numbers, and numbers meant to be replacing backward letters... A 3 is a 3 people, it is not a back to front E....

Yah I worked out what it said, hence my "Pious Prius" comment. But it sure had me wondering for a few seconds, I had trouble looking past the nitrite.
The ones that make no sense at all no matter how hard you look are most irritating, I love puzzles, and hate it when they make no sense. Especially when you find out they aren't even a puzzle, but somebody's initials :-(
I have a mate with a 6 cylinder Porche 914
His numberplate is/was CMXIV-6 That took me a while to work out!(although it's easier when you can see it written)

CMXIV = -100+1000+10-1+5 = 914
the 6 was for 6 cylinder. The point... dunno. Damnably expensive customisation.
I really don't get it, especially with the porche, it already has a 914 badge on it!

QLD Plates I have seen,

NOIDEA on a BMW driven by a Blonde in Brisbane.
POT80 (potato) on a farmer's ute at Gympie
SOFAST on another BMW at Kenmore
TIH5 0 on a Harley (in your rear view mirror it reads O SHIT)
MRWOOD and MSWOOD on family sedans at Chapel Hill.
CAR A1 on Jag at Pullenvale
BUMDR on Proctologist's wagon at Mt Crosby!
and I always wanted to buy the plate NFN VW (an f'in VW) for my wife's Beetle! She burred up when she figured it out.

Cheers IanK

I also assumed it's supposed to be 'penis' you do have to wonder why.

edit: but wait there's more

Back in the mid 80's Toyota used to do ads on TV with the 'coach' with the catch cry of UBEWDE. He used to drive a Landcruiser with UBEWDE number plates.

Also been told on another forum about

An old red Rover: ALL OVER

A black Jeep with the plates: BAA BAA
