I prefer to watch The Wizard of Oz with the Dark Side of the Moon as the soundtrack.

That is still on the list of things to do Ron.

But I do prefer it when I can do nothing but listen... :)

When I was a teenager I had a car with a cassette player, and one of the cassettes that got regularly played was Dark Side of the Moon. The unfortunate side effect now, however, is that listening to it reminds me of driving in rain. It rained a lot where I grew up...

I wouldnt have any problems with that. I love the rain.

For me, it reminds me of being school age, rotten drunk and watching the PF videos with one of my best mates. Good times :)

Ah... Pink Floyd - restimulation of many fine times over the years. And this is a vinyl version - excellent! After years of CDROMs it gets difficult to remember the depth of vinyl sound.

Nice...

Indeed... my trusty old direct drive pioneer deck gets a regular workout...

P.S... have you seen how much they want for a "modern" turntable....

They build them tough so you can scratch and drag and basically ruin the records. I used to have a deck that had 3 balance controls to get the tracking right... should'a kept it but I fell for the digital hype. Mind you I do have a deck I can plug into the PC - intention is to get all my records recorded and cleaned up and saved as FLAC's.

The old man has one of those too Journeyman. We just ended up playing it through the amp though...

My choice of record was George Thorogood and the Destroyers. Bad to the Bone on vinyl on a saturday morning. Win. :)

I wish there was a portable player that could play FLAC 24 files...

Now THAT would be a product I would buy, particularly with the quality of some of the headphones these days. Some of the response curves for in-ear ones are amazing for the size. I doubt they will ever match what you can get with a big driver but they are certainly good enough for wandering around.

Best you can do for now is generate the highest quality mp3 from the FLAC that your software will allow.

Actually, thinking about it, I wonder if the reason is that we wouldn't hear the difference on the little headset speakers?

Mp3's are still lossy. Apple lossless is only 16 bit, but it is still lossless and playable on iPods. I doubt apple has any intentions of going any higher with the bit rate as it would not likely increase sales. Their units already dominate the market, and for good reason, anybody can use them.

I wonder if you could add a display screen and some buttons to a Raspberry Pi for that?
