Thanks, sorry I missed that. I wish I could change that about our government, heck I bet most of the U.S. feels that way.

Forgive me if I'm wrong... but the evangelical Christians seem to hold what seems to outsiders, as a disproportionate sway iwth regards to US foreign policy...

And a stance that often frankly seems at odds to their supposed Christian values...

I believe they had lots of pull with our government, but not any more.

I honestly don't believe any outside of government hold any sway with foreign policy. Our government has not listened to us in many years. I don't know anyone that believes we should still be in any of these wars. I believe we should support our allies, like Isreal, England, Australia, Germany, and many many other countries. But I don't believe we should be over there with troops in any other country. I really wish I knew the answer to get us out of other countries issues, but I truly don't.

Many things "christians" do are at odds with there Christian values.

We have the same dilemna here in Australia Helomech...

There no real public support for our involvement overseas...

Yet, in a rare show of "bi-partisanship"... both sides of politics roundly support, and continue to support our intervention and involvement.... :dontknow:

Sounds like our governments both need overhauled. I think they forgot the work for us, not the other way around.

If I was in the process of being vandalised or robbed, my first priority is to make sure of mine and my partner's safety. The rest is just 'stuff', and not worth the taking of a human life over.

I don't take the law into my own hands and decide that a death penalty is an appropriate punishment for someone trying to steal my laptop or smash a window on my car. Stuff can be replaced and repaired, while it's very difficult to un-shoot someone.

A society where juries let people off for shooting another at night because they initiated a disagreement isn't one that I want to be a part of.

The police and military should be the only ones with the guns, and the courts should be the only ones to decide punishment. Idealistic? Yes, but something worth aiming for.

Well my stuff is more important to me than the life of a thief. I worked for it, and I will be damed if someone is getting it without a fight. Now a good person, no my stuff is not worth their life. I just really don't care about a life, just because it was born. Would you spare hitlers life if you could? I sure as hell would not. Some people are just not worth the effort. Now don't twist that into I want to shoot all thieves, because that is not what I said. But I will protect what is mine. That does not mean I want to hurt anyone.

Well I will take the law into my own hands, that is why the law is written in certain ways. I don't need a jury to tell me the guy running away with my stuff is guilty. I can see that.

In that case the jury let him off, because the other guy was the aggressor. Here we have another idiot starting some crap and getting justice immediately. I like when people make a stand against those trying to harm them.

Well I will never live in your perfect world, because I will always have my guns. There is zero negotiation on that. This may sound like a cliche, but you can have my guns when you pry them from my cold dead fingers. And that is how it is.

Ok, I think everyone understands your opinion now after 9 pages of saying that you want to keep your guns and that you hold little respect for many humans lives. Obviously there are many compassionate people that have a different opinion, I think we really need to let this conversation lie now, because it's just going round in circles.

I see how it is. I am not the only one in this thread, but I am the only one called out. That does not mean I am not compassionate. I care about lots of people, worth while people. Funny how some of you are so uptight about defending your things, but I bet you are for killing babies. Now that blows my mind.

See this is how these emotive topics get twisted. You have already said a few times on this thread that you think people are twisting what you say. In the above post you have twisted what I said. I did NOT say that you weren't compassionate..

I'm not sure what the "killing babies" comment is about, I just think this topic has had it's day, it's not exactly progressing in any good direction.. :dontknow:

Yeah, and I guess that's how these topics can head sometimes when there's a majority that think one way, and a minority who think a different way. Personally I don't agree with your point of view, but I didn't mean that it's just you who should stop on this thread, sorry if it came across that way, it does read a bit like that..

All good, yes, lets talk AP... :thumbright:
