That time of year is rapidly approaching when my family asks me what I want for Christmas and I generally come up blank and look on Amazon to create a wishlist for them ( they are in the UK, I'm in Oz). Given I don't know of many great AP books in Amazon (seems to be better info here!) What other things could make possible presents for a budding young APer?

Thought this thread might create a handy list for people to casually leave on the kitchen table :shifty:

Thanks Faye - Being an obsessed fisherman I've got a fair few of those, though not a little aquarium style net or vacuum sealer (that ones been no my list for a while so was a good reminder).

What about a salt refractometer is that handy to have?

Yea I like having a refractometer, it comes in handy if you need to treat fish and control your salt levels.

Other idea's are digital scales and vacuum sealer

Is that a backup system as in a complete other AP system :wave1: did I just say that!!

I've got an AC/DC air pump backup for my system thanks cc, don't think a pump backup would be feasible unless i start going down the 12 V battery, 12V pump, voltage fail relay etc route (or inverter).

vacuum sealer's a cracking idea - Can anyone recommend a good one?

yea the vacuum sealer is soooo good on so many levels.. Apart from the ease of fish packaging and storage Ive found it handy for bagging up feed to keep in the freezer and Mrs Charlie uses it for a lot of our meat as we often buy in bulk.

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas is 3 more BYAP growbeds.

Like Charlie I like having a refracto meter to keep an eye on the salt. I like to keep it around 2ppt.

Electronic scales have also come in handy. You always have to weigh your veggies and fish so you can brag about them.

My vacuum sealer is also handy. You don't want to harvest a lot of fish and have to eat them all quickly.
