You could try some cold galvanizing compond on the edges -- it looks like grey spray paint -- comes in a spray can -- but it is some sort of epoxy paint with zinc flecks in it.

Thanks for the heads up emsjoflo. I think I'll just put it in as is and hope it lasts the season. It's not ideal because they're going to be fairly low, so I think we'll be upgrading in the near future anyway. Plus my lovely lady loves buying "the best" for her veggies. We certainly don't save any money by growing our own...

Even though it will be more prone to rusting, it should last several seasons, just don't be suprised to see some develop the first year and soft spots after 4 or 5.
