Does anyone have a new "Mystery Object" they would like to post? (I think this could get to be more fun than a barrel full of monkeys!)

Okay, poor joke coming!!!

A kid in a biology course was told he had to do an experiment and draw conclusions based upon the results. So he took a frog out of the tank, set it on the counter and clapped his hands. The frog jumped. The student wrote down, "Subject jumped three feet after auditory stimulus given." The student then anethisitized the frog and amputated one of the frog's front legs. After the frog had recovered the student put the frog on the counter and clapped his hands again, and the frog jumped. The student wrote down, "After amputation subject jumped two and a half feet after auditory stimulus given." The student then anethisitized the frog and amputated another of the frog's legs. After the frog had recovered, again the student placed the frog on the counter and clapped his hands. This time the frog struggled, but it jumped. The student wrote down, "After second amputation subject jumped one foot after auditory stimulus given."
To shorten this story a bit, after the student had amputated the last of the frog's legs and had allowed it to recover, he placed it on the counter and clapped his hands. The frog just layed there, unable to move. The student clapped his hands a number of times, and each time there was no response from the frog. The student wrote down his observations and the next day presented his study to the class. He stated, "After the fourth and final amputation subject was given auditory stimulus, and failed to respond. The conclusion of this researcher is that the fourth amputation resulted in deafness of the subject..."  :banghead:

probably not that far from some of the conclusions reached by current researchers in many areas.............. does the cause suit the effect or the effect suit the cause ;)

Steve, do you remember the "Credit Card" song from the 1970's? In brief it was this fellow got a credit card bill in the mail that he did not make. After several attempts to settle the matter with the company he took the bill, which was an IBM punchcard, and folded it, stapled it, and punched a few extra holes into it. The next month he got a check from the company for some large amount of money. When he contacted them about it, he told them the same thing that they had told him. "Sir, computers do not lie!"
