Aghhh...

I see USA policy is now "sanctioning" China by giving it what it wants.

To punish China for it's Hong Kong policy, its decided that instead of the "One China two systems" policy, it will now impose a "One country, one system" policy from the outside, effectively giving China it's blessing to Goose Trump all over freedom without repercussion.

To reiterate...

Aghhh.

The world has gone to shit.

Sorry to anyone who voted for Trump.

This is no place for party politics, even in the venting section.

I dont do censorship so I wont delete it myself, but if anyone wants it deleted, I understand.

So I am having a terrible day, week, month, past year...
Ever since the pandemic I have lost my job, I have had to relocate out of our home of 12 yrs (rented, but the owner decided to "renovate" and now renting at double price), I have 4 kids, two of them are failing a few classes and the other two are just plain not pulling their head out of their phone... but who can blame them? Hubby and I have been so busy the past 2 yrs, ridiculously busy, that we have had to find a way to keep them busy too.

In good news one of the kids struggling showed me her new notes for this past month and she is getting better in chemistry (subject I HATE) but at least that is a little light you know, she just came to me today saying "hey mom, I got a B- in my chem test"... yeah it's a B-, may not be much to some of you but man is it AMAZING to hear after she being in so much danger of not making it past her 10th grade...

We got her and her brother a membership in a website for chemistry help online, so it appears to be working thank god, it was not that expensive and the two kids can use it even if they have 2 yrs of difference between them so that is something good in my week...

But you know, this is how sad my life is right now... the light of my week has been chemistry homework help... jeez... can I be back in my 20s?! please... sorry for this venting, I needed it!

One thing I can think of that my mother taught me, (about the only thing) is ''Learn how to accept the things in life"
Some years later I realized for every negitive, there is a positive. A silver lining. If you haven't seen it yet, keep looking. You will.

I have a question or two about Perth, if you don't mind...

It seems to be a pretty happening place - if judging by two YouTube channels I follow from the area mean anything - but you guys certainly seem to have a huge problem with flies. That would drive me insane.

Q1: Are bug repellents illegal in Australia?

Q2: There seems to be so much undeveloped coastal land South (and then eventually East) of Perth. Is that all protected territory, or is it more of a "our population just hasn't grown enough yet to expand over there" type of thing?

Please let me know, and thanks!

Yep, you read that correctly. Every thing my Wife and I built and created over the last 24 years is gone. We built our house from the dirt to the roof. Most of the lumber and all the timber came from our property here in northern New Mexico. We made the large planks for windowsills and work benches using our Granberg Alaskan chainsaw mill and it's ash now too. We're making plans to relocate because this once gorgeous area of New Mexico looks like an atomic bomb went off nearby. They destroyed everything. Our beautifully manicured forest is destroyed too. This year we had the best ground cover we've seen since we bought this property in 1971.

After the Cerro Grande fire which destroyed the town of Los Alamos lit for the same reason, now they call them "Prescribed burns." As citizens we need to take the matches away for the US Forest Service. It has been declared a national disaster by uncle Joe. Under the unbearable stress of losing our homebuilt home with a masonry 2600 gallon aquaponics fish pond with five year old Koi, we've frantically filling our forms proving we own the home. That part is done and sent in to FEMA with documentation showing what type of home it was, as it is unrecognizable as a building. Next is personal belongings; family photos, paintings, artwork, furnishings and a brand new jewelry studio which I
I've been using to create hand fabricated (silversmithing) rings, along with a handmade lapidary system I've been using to cut and reshape stones that I've had for 40 years when I began silversmithing. We opened an Etsy shop and sold a few rings already. Etsy Rodgers Rings and Things I best get back to work.
Thank you all
Love Brian and Nell

I'm not even clear if you are for it or against it, lol That pretty well covers my opinion of politics these days. Ha!

Oh Brian and Nell, I am so sorry to hear you have lost your beautiful home. I have not heard of what has been happening over there nor understand how it could happen in this day and age, so sad.
If there’s anything we can do let us know as after following your build over the years I think of you as part of the family and will miss your updates.
Take care and be strong.
Greg

well said Greg, +1!

I am in So Cal, but if you need it I can make a trip to NM to help out. So sorry to hear about this Brian. If you need a place and want to visit San Diego, let me know and we will work you into the schedule. I also have a vacation place on the Colorado River near Yuma, AZ if you need a long-term arrangement.

Best wishes and prayers - Dave

I know this was asked a long time ago but let me try.

I have no idea what you have found on youtube about Perth, because Perth is quiet city. WA is know as Wait Awhile instead of Western Australia, especially by those of us who live here.

There is not a huge problem with flies in the city, unless I am just used to them. Hahaha.

There are plenty of bug repellents here in Australia. Most of them would be mosquito repellent.
But once you go outside of the city, yes there are a LOT of flies. We have those hats with netting around (sort of like the bee keeper ones) to keep the flies off.

A lot of the coast is undeveloped and we like it that way. WA has awesome beaches and 4WDing is very popular. We definitely like the natural bush and beach areas here. If you are talking about the southern coast then yes a lot of that is protected, but I am unsure what exactly you mean by undeveloped. Is it a road and a carpark or actual housing? Because as I said above we like the natural beaches but a carpark and path to the beach is very welcome.
