They are sometimes treated with Methyl bromide for termites. Particularly older ones.

I have a steady supply of wood pallets that are untreated by chemicals. Heat treated only.

Here, the untreated ones are marked HT for "heat treated" and the ones that are treated with methyl bromide are marked MB.

Just thought I would mentioned that I received my flow hive a few weeks ago and I have put it together and painted it.. since it is going to be at my parents place they are sourcing the bees which I suspect there is going to be a short supply of as everyone must be getting their hives at the same time.. the thing looks good, I will take some pictures next time I am out at my folks place.

Hopefully it will work as suggested.. time will tell ;)

and my dad did a one day bee keeping course so that we don't kill them instantly!

Still waiting on mine. I found some bees that I can remove...but need the hive.
