Sure KE, I have a few lengths of old box gutter on hand, which may get rivetted together, back to back, to give it a bit of strength and used as a growbed. Sounds like a bit of a plan for a wheelie-bin system !

I will give the tank on mezanine a miss for now - I don't think fish would like swimming around in 300mm PVC anyway. What I may do one day is put some continuous flow grow-beds (with a l;ight medium like Hydroton) up there and replace some of the roof with polycarbonate. This woudl make a good growing area for winter - but would be prohibitively hot is summer.

Other side of the equation though VB is that the grow beds would be warmer up there in winter and should therefore hold your tank water temperature a little higher than if they were outside

That's right Rupert - that's what I mean by saying it would be a good growing area in winter. My typo may have hidden my intent.

Ah, didn't realise it was for the fish, thought it was added water volume to keep things more stable as well as increased pressure..etc
The pipe was more expensive then i thought anyways
