Hi,

I am from the U.S. and am going to be traveling around australia for a month in january and february. I've been trying to collect information on places I want to see and where I want to go. So I thought since this is the only forum I'm a part of with many australians I would ask for some input!! Also since australia is king of ap I thought I could maybe tour some systems while I'm there. Does anyone know who all likes to show off their systems? My route will mostly be on the eastern coast starting in sydney and I may (or may not) go as far north as cairns because I hear they have the best scuba diving(big deal for me). Then I going back down the coast (and some inland to see places i decide to visit) all the way to melbourne going through the wine country(yarra valley if im correct).

I will be backpacking/bicycling and riding the bus system so any good recommendations for campgrounds would also be appreciated. Any places I should steer clear of regarding the current flooding situation would be great. Right now my itinerary is pretty open so any suggestions would help me plan my trip!

Anyway sorry the for long post, any info at all would be greatly appreciated by this ignorant american tourist

hey CB, we are just south of Townsville, give me a PM if you make it this far.

the roads are pretty shithouse at the moment because of the rain. Biking it will be interesting to say the least ;)

check on http://www.racq.com.au/travel/Maps_and_ ... conditions for the main areas of concern on your travels

Hey thanks Jaymie! From the looks of it I may just fly up to Cairns and back. Not that I know anything about australian weather but I'm guessing some (or many) roads may be impassable and traveling up to Cairns by road will be impossible. Thanks for the link!
