The problems are fairly random... One member can;t stay logged in for more than a few seconds. He's tried multiple computers in different locations, he's tried IE and FF, flushed cookies and history, made sure cookies are enabled, etc. Just can;t stay logged in long enough to make a post.. But can stay logged in on his iphone.... :?

Thats the strange thing, others are having the same sort of problem on the backyard farming forum, yet can log in here no worries...... :geek:

I'm having no problems on either forum, have used FF & IE, but mainly use IE

For those that do more in their backyards than aquaponics, check out the backyard farming forum. Lots of interesting info, which will only improve with more members.

On further thought, I'll say nothing ;-)

That is very strange, I was going to suggest that it was network issues, as I recall, the day it caused me grief there was a big outage of many providers, I think there was a basic transmission failure, 2 of 5 clients were down that day, and 2 more were so slow as to be unuseable. They all had different providers.
But to hear that it's only giving him 3 seconds, I would have said was his issue with his ISP, but the fact that the other forum works is baffling.
His iPhone is using local wifi or the celular network? His pcs in different locations, are they all using the same or similar cheap flakey ISPs?
I've had ISPs that frop out every 2 minutes, it doesn't matter for surfing usually, and so most ppl don't notice.
In short I have NFI, I'm just tossing around options here.
He is checking the 'keep me signed in' box?

Good luck :geek:

With IE the writing on the forums comes up clear and easy to read, where as in FF the writing is very thin and harder to read. I have tried changing the view options, but that hasn't helped. I'm not only a 'newbie' on this forum, (close to being a 'valued contributor'), but relatively new with using computers too!

That's ok, once you get used to it, and then see th eother apps, you'll learn to hate it quick enough.

Hey Joel.... one of the people from todays exhibition in Mossvale phoned to say he couldn't connect to www.backyardaquaponics.com ....

I had just got home and could access the forum from a direct saved link....

But when I entered the main site url.... got a message...

Quote:
Warning: DOMDocument::loadXML() [domdocument.loadxml]: Empty string supplied as input in /home/bac8844/public_html/modules/mod_forum_latest_posts/helper.php on line 55
failed
Fatal error: Call to a member function getElementsByTagName() on a non-object in /home/bac8844/public_html/modules/mod_forum_latest_posts/helper.php on line 64

Same message he was getting.... asked him to add "/forum" to the end .... and he just got a blank white page....

He's using Firefox.... I'm using IE.... so I can get to the forum, but not the main page...

He doesn't get either...

Yep, the forum and website has been down for most of the day.

I think it may have been caused by trying to do a backup late yesterday. The integrated Joomla backup software module seems to have some bugs. It used up all the online hosting space we had, and pushed the CPU to 109/100, and still didn't do a successful backup.

I'm not sure why it crashed the site and why it has now come back, I guess our web host has probably reset itself after overloading last night sometime, shame it took so long. I'm waiting to hear back from our hosting provider and I'm also getting someone to look at the backup module..

But things are back as per usual... Phew..... :)

After making a comment Friday about not having any problems, I then found I couldn't get on to the site at all Saturday morning. :help: Thought I must have spoken too soon! So glad to know the problem wasn't my end.
