If anyone reads my system thread, you'll notice the non-working embedded videos. There's a code tag and and flash tag in the menu bar when creating a message, but I couldn't figure out how to get them to work to play a youtube video inside my posting.

Is there a policy against this, or do I just not know what I'm doing?

Flash vids should work... Dandi has posted them before... Youtube wont... and frankly I don't think there is any benefit in having them embedded in posts on the forum...

Both from a point of view regarding the disk space and server utilization required to host them... and the time taken to load them each time the post is opened...

Link them to the URL on the Youtube site... and let them worry about hosting them... and the time it takes to load them if anyone wants to do so...

An embedded video would be hosted on whatever server it is uploaded to (i.e. youtube). It's just played through the browser of the user while looking at the forum.

But I'll take your word for it that youtube doesn't work .

Sorry Tamo... by "embedded" I meant actually uploaded and hosted/displayed within a forum post... rather than a link to Youtube... as I see that you've done anyway..

So, is there a way to embed flash?

Dandiman used to do it... but that might have been before the last server/software upgrade...
