Win or lose.... and it's awefully hard to win a referendum.... the principle of referendums is one that should be loudly applauded.... and IMO utilised much more frequently...

Ask the people ... I reckon....

It shouldn't be long until we can have many referendums ,, just a matter of setting it up electronically , text email whatever ,,so people don't have to waste so much time.

If we left all the decisions to Pollies who are either so far up themselves or have no balls, we would probably never ever see the light of day. :bootyshake: The Pollie from Lung's area prolly fits both of the above criteria.

This I agree with as it is cost effective. But to do that and have a government would be stupid. Better to have administrators that are voted in for 3 years, all they do is identify areas of need, have people vote on the solutions electronically then implement a plan based on the outcome. Would need to vote in administrators every three years still to help stop corruption.

My father always told me that we should vote out the sitting member every three years... unless they'd really done a good job....

Reckoned it would make them perform.... and save a truck load of bloody pension/superannuation and junket money/expenses...

The sooner we get rid of the 2 party histerical bollocks system... the better off we'd all be... and have better governance IMO...

To summarise : I like it and will enjoy it while it lasts. Once it's gone I won't cry, it's only an hour...

Holding back the tears :(

Sidenote : Freo also had a by-election and elected the first Green in any state lower house in the country

We vote in politicians and pay them to make the hard decisions and they should have been able to make a decision on what was right for WA

Burnsy how could it be right for WA for *frack* sake, if it was right for WA then it would have been voted in, the city was only just in favor, when saying right for WA you have to include the whole State not just the Metro Area, as I have mentioned, if the Metro area was as much in favor as you reckon then the country vote would not have mattered, No Pollie would have bought in DLS without a vote as people have been against it for 34 years, It is a great thing that we get to make important decisions, if it was the other way around for example, we had daylight saving for 34 years and the Pollies took it away without a vote, would your comments be the same, I think not.

Out of interest what makes you comment that "It is right for WA"?
Again the minority (can have a point of view) are not right, the majority are always right and always win, (Except in Zimbabwe and similar countries, which thankfully we're not)

The reason could be that while those who live away from the coast spend their extra hours of sunlight in their cars driving home from work during the warmest part of the day, the people from Ocean Reef, Cottesloe and South Perth often use the time to frolic in the water.

The results from the individual electorates show that those living in the western and northern suburbs and Liberal seats were more likely to support daylight saving.

There was a strong No vote recorded in much of the Labor heartland, including Armadale, Cannington, Forrestfield, Midland, Kwinana and Willagee. There also seemed to be a concentration of anti-daylight saving sentiment in the eastern suburbs, with electorates including Darling Range, Forrestfield, West Swan, Swan Hills, Bassendean and Kalamunda all voting it down.

From the west australian (email version) with headline Eastern suburbs anti-daylight saving vote clinched poll
