MF, spent a leisurely Sunday watching all the races - that rain certainly adds a bit of spice to a race

On Sunday I was up early to get to the local hardware and then spent the morning and early afternoon running between the TV and the AP system to watch each cycle; I was fine tuning my auto-syphons. By the time the main MotoGP race was on, I was happy enough to let the system cycle unattended. Good on Chris V and Casey (at least he didn't crash).

Phew! For a minute there I was worried there were no race fans in the forum. I figured being Australian, many here would take interest. Are Doohan and Gardner considered national icons in your country? Here in the United States, Motogp is gaining in popularity, but the legends (Roberts, Rainey, Schwantz, Spencer, Lawson) are still unheard of in mainstream sports.

The outcome on Sunday was a total twist! Rossi is closing in on Hayden and the next three races are going to be competitive. How about Rossi taking 5 riders in one lap!!! That dude is unearthly in his ability to ride!

Are you guys watching the next race?

Already got my seat booked on the sofa - wife is a big fan of any sporting event(especially if an aussie is competing) and it is my job to keep the liquid flowing on these occasions while she takes charge of the remote (love every minute of it). :occasion5:

When I was a kid, Wayne Gardner was my hero. Now he is sellingout and doing celebrity Australian Survivor YUK. Anyway...

Yep, Doohan and Gardner are icons. Everyone was a bit disppointed when Mick recently got into a bit of trouble in Darwin and went to court for disorderly conduct. Even the judge made a comment about having his hero coming before him.

I probably don't watch as much these days as I used to. I was right into it back when Doohan, Rainey, Schwantz, Spencer etc were racing together. Some classic duels. It was tragic when Wayne Rainey had his accident and was left paralysed - it seemed such a minor accident. My sister used to attend Eastern Creek and the F1 races as a trackside nurse. She tended Freddie after he crashed at high speed at Eastern Creek when his engine siezed. Rossi is definitely a gifted rider.

cheers

Right on guys!!! Ell - who has the remote??? haha.

Doohan is definately lengendary and in my opinion in the top three greatest riders of all time. My favorite coming up was without question Wayne Rainey. I attended faithfully 5 years in a row at Laguna Seca.

I recently got back into it when they opened Laguna back up, although I am not as much of a fan of the four stroke, and the American riders are not at all racing 125 or 250s, which I think hurts them competitively. Nicky Hayden is a classic example. An AMA Superbike boy who rides conservatively. Yea it's good for points, but it makes him vulnerable to "win at all cost" riders like Rossi, Capirossi, Melandri, and Pedrosa. I'll try to keep this thread updated for you all as the end of the season comes to a close. Any bets? Rossi? Hayden? Pedrosa/Melandri spoilers?

Looks like the Survivor competition couldn't appreciate the former champ
