Dave, I know you probably know this, but I just learned it so I'm gonna share

In the US, property owners have rights to the sunlight that would fall on their property. So (at least in some states) you can get your neighbor to cut down their trees to let sun onto your panels.

I learned this because somewhere in California there's a lawsuit. A solar owner is suing a neighbor to cut down their hand-planted redwoods.
There could be some very interesting "my valuable old-growth carbon-sequestering trees are greener than your solar panels" arguments in the future!

I've heard of air rights for skyscrapers, is that the same thing? (That's why early skycrapers in NYC are all stepped-shaped, after they created a market to buy and sell air rights then the skyscrapers took on a less stepped look)
