Nice vid...there's nothing more exciting than seeing those dark shadows racing towards you, mulie or lure on the ready. Unfortunately they haven't made it round the cape yet, very late this year cause of the warm currents (la nina maybe) but we've been getting macs, bonito and tuna close to the coast instead..just as fun!! |

Got a few last year and hoping to get at least as many this year with a little luck. Is that in a boat Chippy or from shore? |

Back when i lived in the states every year my brother and i would catch the salon run in october. They would come from the great lakes to these small inland rivers and streams to bread and then die. We used medium action rods and 8lb line to make it sporting. When they were running heavy one day was our limit at time 'cause our arms were sore from fighting fish all day. I miss that and all the other fish Wisconsin had to offer. Pretty limited here in Botswana for sport fishing. MM |

Different salmon Missionaryman, ours are an Austrlain salmon, totally different beast that doesn;t taste so nice, but puts up a hell of a fight. A mate of mine recently went to NZ where friends there were telling him about the prized kahawai fish that was supposed to be hard to catch and highly prized for eating.. He couldn;t believe it when they showed him pictures and he realized it was a common Australian salmon. |

Yep tastes like crap but great fertilizer, crab/crayfish/marron bait, dog/cat food. Chuck one under a fruit tree when first planted and they get a great kick start! |

man I have salmon withdrawals! I catch at least one without fail in dunsborough but haven't had the chance to even go fishing for the past 2 years They taste quite good when prepared properly. I like them raw as sashimi also |

Salmon cop a bad wrap all the time.....but usually from people who catch them and leave them in the sun or esky with no ice....its all about fish prep, not just at cooking but immediatly after capture that will determine how your salmon turns out |
