I discovered this in the fisheries website for you NSwelshmen.

Quote:
NSW makes changes for Redfin

The NSW Department of Primary Industries is reminding Victorian anglers who fish north of the border that it is illegal to be in possession of live redfin in NSW.

If anglers are targeting redfin in NSW, the catch can only be stored dead, such as on ice in an esky.

In NSW, redfin cannot be kept alive in a bucket, keeper net, live well or aquarium.

For more visit www.dpi.nsw.gov.au

As far as i know this is not the case in Victoria, but I would happily be corrected on this.

Hard to imagine why they are wasting time and resources on Redfin , that horse bolted many years ago .
Surely there are many other issues the authorities could concentrate on rather than this species . Like cane toads we need to live with them as they will never be eradicated , or even controlled for that matter .
