SOUND catch eb, but careful not to be too COCKy otherwise you'll BURN up all your goodluck, or is it a case of not being able to POINT at the WOOD because the MAN is in the way??

Perhaps the HAM is ROCKING on the foreshore??

Inspired by your bountiful hauls, EB, I made the 25.4km trip into the deep south to wet a line in the Sound.

Just fished from Woodman Point - both the very west-end facing rock outcrop, and the south facing beach between said outcrop and the fishing groin.

Alas, no bag limits reached today, however, I did manage to pull in a monster cobbler - and I did fairly shite myself in the process, as I was ill-equiped and plier-less and couldn't remember if the spike of death was on top of the head, along the dorsal line or behind the gills(it is in fact on the head and dorsal line!!) Poor bastard had to stay attached in a rockpool whilst I consulted google! I reckon he woulda been pushing 3.5kgs and in excess of 500mm. He was an impressive specimen - his hide was a beautiful mottle, very much like the digital disruptive patterned material used by military forces in woodlands theatre of war!

Needless to say, he lived to fight another battle. Cobblers mate for life, so I only hope the poor bugger managed to find his way back to his weedpatch and respective partner.

Only other catches were bread n butter fish, which we kept then fed to the resident pelican, Mr Percival!

...Am now tempted to get a dinghy n fish the sound properly!

Damn, missed this... Nice looking cobbler there bluethumb... :thumbright:

I had a couple of weeks off because my mate has gone away working, no more boat... :(

Still went yesterday and got an ok haul, crab season has finished though so no crabs.. But finally got a productive throw with the throw net at the boat ramp, 4 mullet of an ok size, you can see one in the bottom left of the esky.. Hard to tell one fish from another though, good feed of Tailor, herring and some mullet. :thumbright:

Shocking day out there though, sea breeze came up with a vengeance at about 12.00, out of nowhere started whipping up the waves. To dangerous to get the boat out where we had launched so I had to jump out and get wet, then drive the car to another boat ramp while my mate drove the boat there...
