Got bored this afternoon so decided to go try the river upstream from town in a spot I got heaps of yabbies years ago. The river has been flowing for months and still is and this is the prime for yabbies coming up. Although they didnt go as well as I remember, I still got a small feed for the missus and me, (kids wont even try them, God bless them as well Just finished mine and got reminded why I love them so. Especially these little black river yabbies that are as sweet as Will return for round two tommorow BTW, I had already peeled about 30 before I remembered to take a pic Attachment: 007 (Small).JPG [ 77.05 KiB | Viewed 5439 times ] |

Dont get caught with the operas near any public water, as it could turn very nasty. You are allowed two bait nets which are basically the same and can use them in public waters, go figure Good luck with the fishing ![]() Oh , yeah, just used drop nets |

I used to go yabbying with a few mates in the parks in the centre of Adelaide when we were kids. We would just dredge the bottom of the nice decorative ponds with buckets on a rope and pour the mud all over the footpaths to pick the yabbies out. Sorry to everyone who has wedding photos with us in the background....Oops The car exhaust flavoured storm-water run-off from the streets that fed the ponds imparted a delicious, sweet, lead flavour to the yabby flesh. The influence on most of my personalities was hardly lawnmower at all. Actually the yabbies we caught were all too small to even think of eating them so we sold them to petshops to finance other misadventures. They may have become the great grandparents of the yabby breading stock of today |
